If you are interested in speaking at GenerativeAI July Meetup in Bangalore, note the following guidelines:

Talks

Talks are 30-minute sessions including time for Q&A. A talk proposal is a short description of a talk that is aiming to convince someone to part with 30 minutes of their time, in order to learn about something. A good proposal should disclose:

  • The topic (the WHAT) and WHY it is interesting
  • The audience to WHOM the talk is addressed
  • The TYPE of talk (lots of maths, hands-on, etc) and possibly the tone (light-hearted, informative etc)
  • The TAKEAWAY, a.k.a. what will I learn

Talk Proposal Tips

  1. Brief Summary – This informs attendees what the talk is about. Discloses the topic, domain and overall purpose. This is at most a few lines long, and will be printed in the conference programme.
  2. Description – This is a self-contained statement that summarises the aspects of the talk. It should be structured and present the objective of the talk, its outline, central thesis and key takeaways. After reading the description, the audience should have an idea of the overall presentation and know what to expect. The description should also make clear what background knowledge is expected from the attendees. Both this and the summary will be included in the talk details online.
  3. About You -- Give us a sense why you’re best person for this! Include your socials and 2-3 technical achievements/contributions or projects.

While there is no strict template for this, you should make sure that the audience can understand why your talk is relevant for them.

Support

Editors will comment on the description. Make sure to watch out for comments from Nirant K on your submission. Editors’ decision on which talks are selected for the conference will be final. Talks which are not selected will also receive feedback, so that speakers can present their talks at other opportunities.

If you submission is included in the shortlist, you will be required to prepare an outline of your talk and go through a rehearsal.
The call for submissions will be closed on 21 July. In the meanwhile, talks will be selected on a rolling basis, as individuals make submissions.

FAQ

  1. Is the video compulsory? No. Please submit a Title and Outline of the talk
  2. What kind of topics are we aiming for? We don’t have strong opinions -- we want to have talks which are globally relevant and not lower the bar to a local maxima.

Recommendation systems with Large Language models - Is cold start problem solved ?

Recommendation systems with large language models (LLMs) have the potential to solve the cold start problem, which is the challenge of recommending items to users who have not yet interacted with the system. LLMs can learn to represent users and items in a way that captures their latent preferences, even if they have not interacted with the system very much. This allows LLMs to make recommendatio… more
