Cloud Costs Optimization

Rootconf - Cloud Costs Optimization event was conducted on 28th July 2023 at BIC Bangalore, and was streamed online on Zoom for members.

Of the 138 registrations which included members, crew, speakers and sponsors, 69 were present in person at the event (data from the check-in system at the conference).

15-20 members were online on Zoom watching the talks.

100 members have signed up for Rootconf currently, which has generated INR 1,83,600 of revenue. Of this, the cost of running the conference is approximately INR 1,40,000. The accounts for the conference will be fully reconciled and shared next Friday.

The profile of the speakers was Principal Architects, Principal Engineers, Directors of Engineering, head of Cloud Engineering, and software engineers in SRE teams.

Some of the companies present at the conference were: Freshworks, Flipkart, Ozonetel, Shadowfax, E2E Networks, MYDBOPS, Akamai, Cloudsek, Kinara Capital, Cloud Optimo, Last9.inc.

Two BoF sessions were conducted: 1. Clouds against Containers - a game for developers inspired by Cards Against Humanity and 2. Scaling without Kubernetes.

The videos from the event will be released on Monday and Thursday, starting 7th August. Videos will be listed on the schedule, and will be made available for members only.
