Flipkart sees a concurrent traffic of 1.6Mn users on Big Billion Day, a number that is 2x to 10x of regular days. With sale windows being seasonal it often results in excessive underutilization of the infrastructure outside of these peak periods. While public cloud infrastructure offers flexible capacity and streamlined integration with managed services, its higher cost compared to private cloud infrastructure poses a challenge.
