Load balancing has traditionally been done using legacy expensive and inflexible hardware appliances. With the evolution of web scale computing, there is a massive explosion in SSL/TLS traffic. With Digital India push leading to significant online transactions especially payments, scaling of SSL/TLS has become extremely important and has to meet with the highly elastic loads as well at a much lower cost.
In this talk we look at a modern SDN based approach to cloud scale load balancing, how it helps to achieve upwards of a million SSL transactions per second using commercial x86 servers using google cloud.
Anurag Palsule works for Avi Networks, Bangalore which develops a software-defined load-balancer that eases application deployment and operations by moving them from appliances to clouds (public and private) and scale them on demand. Prior to Avi, Anurag developed data management applications for NetApp and has several patents in this area.
