Puppet in Stand Alone Mode or Why Config management is useful for 0+ systems

Submitted Apr 24, 2012

Learn the benefits and advantages of using puppet in stand alone mode. Discuss the pros and cons of it.

Outline #

Puppet in a generic server/client model works well but the problem comes when you are managing either a multitude of systems or just a single system. Use of racks such as passenger/unicorn can benefit but the configuration is not trivial. So let we can here discuss about using puppet in a stand-alone mode and distribute and trigger code with the help of version controlling systems (I use git for it)

Requirements #

Basic knowledge of configuration Management and System Administration

Speaker bio #

I have been managing Linux systems for the past 3 years. Currently I work at DeepRoot Linux as a Hacker, I’m also a part of deepOfix mailserver development team.
