Electioneering essentially entails delivering the campaign messages to the maximum number of voters efficiently and economically. In a country with more than 130 crores population, it is a herculean task for political parties and political leaders to reach voters with their message. In the light of the magnitude, political players opt for new age media solutions to reach out to their constituents with their message. With an internet subscriber base of more than 45 crores, digital campaigns have become the first choice. Having said that, the campaigning in the digital spaces has started throwing challenges to the democracies across the world and India as well. In the light of the new age electioneering, this talk will discuss the role of model code of conduct in India, and the gaps that exist in regulating digital spaces.
