Editor’s note: kicking off the Platform Engineering meet-ups

What makes Platform Engineering meaningful is how people and tooling evolve together, each system shaped by the engineers who build, run, and improve it.

That spirit of shared learning is what drives the Platform Engineering meet-ups, a new series we’re launching with the Rootconf community beginning November 2025 in Bangalore.

Our goal is to create a space for real stories from engineers and teams who are building internal platforms, solving infrastructure challenges, and redefining how software is built and operated at scale. For me and Bharadwaj Embar, this is about building the kind of community we wish we’d had earlier: one where platform engineers can talk openly, learn from each other, and grow stronger together.

How the first edition came together

For this first edition, we experimented with a community-led editorial process built around elevator pitches. Each submitter had a few minutes to share their idea, followed by conversations with reviewers who helped them refine the focus and bring out the story behind the work.

We looked for experience reports and case studies that are practical, technically grounded, and honest about what it takes to build and run platforms.

A huge thank-you to our community reviewers Madhusudhan Sambojhu (Able.do), Jatin Katyal (Zomato), Rolland Santimano (Rubrik), Giridharan Manivannan (Hasura), Upendra Dev Singh (Ixigo), Tejas Dinkar (Independent; ex-Jiva), Prakhar Joshi (Sharechat), and Nikhil Bafna (PhonePe) for helping shape this lineup, and to Anjali Jindal for coordinating the elevator pitch sessions with patience and clarity.

What’s in the November 8th meet-up?

As teams grow and systems scale, the challenges keep shifting and so do the lessons we learn. That’s why this first edition of the Platform Engineering meet-ups brings together talks that span the full spectrum of building and running platforms: from release safety to intelligent feedback loops to low-latency systems at scale.

We begin with Razorpay’s journey toward deployment reliability presented by Nanda Kishore, where single-region simplicity gave way to multi-region complexity. This talk explores how standardization, policy enforcement, and reusable templates helped bring order to pipeline chaos and how that discipline paved the way for safe, repeatable deployments at global scale.

Next, we dive into Designing a test observability platform with Vivek from Acceldata; a demo that ties together logs, traces, and test outcomes to create faster, smarter feedback cycles. By applying AI to failure analysis and integrating observability directly into CI/CD, this session shows how developer experience can evolve through visibility and insight.

Finally, we zoom out to the edge of scale with Inmobi’s story of low-latency ML inference, presented by Shivam Gupta, which takes us inside the challenge of serving millions of ML requests per second while keeping latency consistent and user experience smooth. It’s a talk about performance under pressure and what it takes to keep systems predictable when traffic never sleeps.
