Meta Refresh 2018 will cover four primary topics:
You must be a practising web developer or designer, and must be able to show how your own work has advanced the state of the web in the past year. You are expected to present original work that your peers — this event’s audience — recognise as being notable enough to deserve a stage. If you are excited about someone’s work and believe it deserves wider recognition, we recommend you contact them and ask them to submit a proposal.
Every proposal MUST be accompanied by:
Without the above information, your proposal will not be considered for review.
If you are submitting a Workshop Proposal, you must clearly state:
There is only one speaker per session. Workshops can have more two or more instructors.
Entry is free for confirmed speakers.
If you are an outstation speaker, HasGeek will do its best to provide a grant that covers part of your travel and accommodation expenses in Bangalore, subject to budgetary constraints.
The 2018 edition is a multi-track event with the following session formats:
Deadline for submitting proposals: TBD
Conference date: 26-27 October, 2018
Meta Refresh will be held at the NIMHANS Convention Center, Bangalore

This is a modified version of the talk I gave in Reactfoo about design systems to cater to the wider audience of developers and designers.
Building high quality interfaces that are consistent across products and teams is hard. When we reach to a point where design and development tools converge and our workflows will have to embrace each other, we might be faced with a LOT of work. Collaboration between designers and developers has been a pain point since, well forever? But fear not, Design Systems is the solution!
Join Siddharth for this practical talk to learn what a design system is, how to build it from scratch; and how to convince your boss that it’s something worth to invest in!
This is a modified version of the talk I gave in Reactfoo about design systems to cater to the wider audience of developers and designers.
Target Group: Designers and developers both, The talk is about bridging the collaboration gap between designers and developers
I feel this is a topic worth talking about because there is a lot of work being done in this space by multiple companies to reach a point where design + development tools converge and our workflows will embrace each other.
I give practical tips that the audience can take back to their work. All of the tools I talk about are either open source or have a free tier.
The audience will learn what a design system is (hint: it’s not just a component library), how to build a design system from scratch with the technical and people decisions decisions you need to make; and how to convince your boss that it’s something you should invest in!
