The aim of this talk is to highlight the challenges faced while designing for systems. It is crucial to understand the role of each entities & how they influence each other- people, devices, intent, location, experiences etc.
We live in a collaborative world. Inorder to design effective scalable solutions, a designer must understand the overarching system it hooks into. Too often, solutions for big problems are subdivided into component parts. As social media and cloud services become more ubiquitous in people’s life, designers need to focus on broader experiences than just individual users engaged with single applications. Users and their tools are now linked to other people, devices and groups in an ecosystem.
This talk will highlight the challenges & key takeaways while designing for Systems. I will showcase couple of seed projects that help designers/developers share & re-use inspiration from the web.I will also cover the effort made at Adobe to promote Dreamweaver as a Visual Editing Collaborative Tool.
Devina is a User Experience Designer at Adobe Systems. She is part of the Dreamweaver team responsible for defining tools that help web designers develop desktop and web based applications.
She graduated from Symbiosis Institute of Design and pursued her masters in Interaction Design from IDC, IIT Bombay. She is currently the Secretary of the IITB Alumni Association in Bangalore.
