An Installable Vue powered multi-platform Desktop Applications (Desktop PWA)

Submitted May 9, 2019

Hybrid applications are getting wildly popular with the rise of Election. But It still takes some effort to get it working correctly.
Now google’s new Desktop PWA has made this process so easy and Simple.
One web application can now act as website, mobile app as well as desktop app! without much modifications.
Though the features of Desktop PWA are limited as of now since its very new to the market,
Its picking up rapidly, It supports chrome OS, Linux, Mac, and Windows.
This is the early stage and developers need to be aware of this so that they make the right choice!

Outline

The talk will go through basics of PWA in general and how to achieve it in a Vue SPA.
Details about Desktop PWA and how that will revolutionarize the native desktop apps.
Go through simple code example of how to build one with Vuejs
How is it different from other native app frameworks such as electron
Current scope of Desktop PWA with Vue and other possibilites

Speaker bio

I am Preetish, I am a Freelance Web Developer. I have 4 years of experience in building rich web applications. I have previously worked with Progressive web apps for phones, I was very fascinated to see how a normal website with some modifications can be installed as apps, Now after the latest update in Desktop PWA I have worked on that as well to understand how it works and it could revolutionize the way native apps are build for desktops!
