Kirin: Zero to Hero In Under 30 minutes

Submitted Oct 9, 2012

Do you need to build a Android app, and need to have it running on an iPhone as well? Or maybe you’re an Android developer, and want to work with your web developer friend?

This session is a step-by-step tutorial on building with Kirin.

We will take you through

  • installation,
  • building your first app,
  • adding new features and screens to your app and
  • adding extensions that access non-UI code on the device.

More than the technology behind Kirin, this will mostly about the process of what you as a developer need to do to wield Kirin’s full power.

Outline

This is the basis of a workshop, featuring a worked example. It will not really focus on the native code, although there will be some of that.

Attendees will not need their laptops.

Requirements

A/V.

Speaker bio

James is the principle architect and beneficial dictator for life of the Kirin project. He has been developing mobile apps for four years, and loves the constraints that small screens and small machines bring.

He conceived of the idea when everyone thought it was just crazy talk, but he went ahead anyway. Now the approach is hailed as “Obvious” and “Merely evolutionary”.
