Making robots using Android and Arduino

Submitted by Sudar Muthu (@sudar) on Oct 2, 2011

Section: NFC, Arduino and ADK Technical level: Intermediate Session type: Workshop Status: Confirmed & scheduled

Abstract

The objective of this session is to show the different ways by which Android can talk to Arduino and how we can leverage this connectivity in making robots.

Outline

With the release of ADK, using Android to control hardware has become really easy. Arduino can be used to create small robots easily and Android can act as the brain for these robots.

In this talk, I am planning to show the different ways by which we can make both Android and Arduino talk to each other and how we can leverage this connectivity in making robots.

Requirements

A basic understanding of Android is needed. Basic understanding of Arduino would be helpful but not needed.

Speaker bio

I work as a Research Engineer at Yahoo! Labs and I play around with Arduino and Android as a hobby.
