About:
Simply put, creative coding is a type of programming to create static, animated and interactive visuals. It help you generate designs in a procedural manner. It also allows you to create micro tools to input data whether it be in form of numbers, letter, image, fonts, SVGs, audio, video and then process it further to create immersive and interactive visuals. This tool can be of great help to ones who are looking for a medium to visualise data in an unconventional way along with adding a delightful layer of interactivity.
Here’s what I will cover:
a. Introduction to creative coding and various possibilities of it (covering examples using Processing and P5.js)
b. Introduction to programmatic way of thinking that you can adapt in your current practice even if you are not interested in learning to code
c. Exercise based on Bruno Munari’s How to Draw a Tree. This helped the attendees understand how code and logic exists in everything including nature
d. Share a comprehensive resources package including, tools, people, web links, books to expose the attendees to the creative coding field.
Who is it for?
Designers, creatives looking to expand their horizon and interested in data and code as a tool/ medium to create
