{The idea is based on the desire of authorities to being in a uniform, standard, scalable parameter to benchmark our cities. This reminds me of various surveys / rankings which are published every year at different frequency showing listing of various parameters converging on to a rank. These ranks range from National, Local or even to a service sector level depending on the focus area of govt / agency carrying out the survey.
In majority of cases these are based on surveys seeking opinion from users, information of system data on volume of services, number of services provided in digital mode etc. The coverage of samples are often questionable for representativeness as respondents may not be consistent in number across geographical spread of city. Furthermore, the surveys are administered in one-way fashion where fixed questions are posed for answers in given fixed choices. The end user importance /measure criteria do not get covered. In such a situation idea proposed is highlighting a city / area rank or score based on actual information on ground.. With nature of information available, it very much feasible to arrive at a common minimum information parameter sets for all cities there by we can get a real time and dynamic city index eliminating all surveys which are carried out every year across the country.

{In today’s times we are following Digital mode in every routine activity and digital tools give us variety of options and even keep track of changes on ground. In addition, majority of functions in urban have shifted to digital mode. With technological advancement we have tools which can provide interfaces amongst these digital databases, spatial and numerical. The idea proposes to capitalise this harmony and amongst the digital tools for logical grouping of information and exchange the results. Such a approach shall provide information for informed decision making and lead to enhanced governance and planning.}
