Biodiversity informatics is the application of informatics techniques to biodiversity information, such as taxonomy, biogeography or ecology. This talk is a web “safari” through this domain starting with a small ecosystem and then gradually progressing to national and global ecosystems.
We are living in a planet where Mother Earth and our existence is on the brink of apocalypse. Every question on linkages in our ecology is a critical question. Hence, every new insight opens up a better understanding of how our natural world works.
In this safari, I will harvest the visual power of mindmaps to open up sitemaps. We will then place various mindmaps on a single canvas and create super sitemaps. We will then connect various facets of information in the super sitemap to unlock answers and possible solutions to some critical ecological questions.
