The Goa Project is an annual “unconference” that brings together a diverse set of people from various fields – to converse, collaborate and co-create. Attendees learn, share, and exchange ideas in a range of different formats.

If you have a topic, skill or insight that you believe is worth conducting a debate, discussion, talk, workshop on, go on and use the Funnel to propose a session for it. If you are a performer - be it a solo act, a band, a magician, or an artist, nominate your performance under the section performance. Performers will be given a slot in the evenings once the session wraps up.

We encourage attendees to vote on the proposed topics. The opinion of our event participants is a key factor while curating the sessions that make it into the final agenda.

We have a framework of tracks - Society, Design, Interactive Media & Cinema, Fringe, Music, Performing Arts, etc. and a separate track for workshops. These are defined as sections in the submission form, we may refine these tracks/sections in the next step of the funnel with YOUR contributions.

This workshop is about the future. The world that we are bequeathing to our children. The facilitators will walk you through a series of vingtage and novel thought experiments, with a slight twist. The aim of these thought experiments is to construct the future that we are currently building.

The broad focus of these experiments will be:
the impact of 1) Artificial Intelligence (how we view work, our self-worth and our notion of time and pleasure),
2) the impact of data proliferation in the hands of commercial interests (and how it affects our autonomy and free will) and the
3) the power of innovation, tech & the resulting value creation in achievaing self-actualization in this new world order.

The key takeaways for the audience:

How do we think about the future of our children?
How do we fight the biases created by our exposure to information?
How do we discover flow and self-worth through our Instagram filters?

Intended Audience:

Anyone who fancies socratic-style ethical debates (or Rick & Morty ones), will find this format very exciting. This is a slightly more applied version of the philosophical considerations so comfort with modern technologies such as deep learning, self-driving cars, AlphaGo, CRISPR etc. will be useful. Outline

The workshop is a game, and the participants are on a doomsday quest, and they have to navigate through a series of thought experiments to come out alive. The broad game theme is an applied and real-world version of the famous Socrates Jones online game. Some popular real-world applications of thought experiments that we will encounter include modified versions of: the Chinese Room, Brain in a Vat and the Trolley problem.
