In this talk, Vivek Jathanna will cover the following topics:
- History of Telecom regulation in India.
- An overview of the Draft Indian Telecommunications Bill, 2022. Issues to think through in the current Bill, mainly the inclusion of OTTs in the regulatory ambit.
- Technical aspects such as signalling protocols, multimedia subsystems, 4G and 5G Voice, and Lawful Interception Management System (LIMS).
By drawing on the technical issues such as Telecom protocols, Vivek will help participants understand and appreciate the challenges that the current telecom regulation poses including speed, security, fraud and unsolicited communication. Vivek will also throw light on how innovation takes place in Telecom, and the impact of the past and current regulation on future innovation in the Telecom sector in India.
Speaker bio: Vivek Jathanna is VP at Exotel (CPaaS/CCaaS player) and has diversified experience in telecom including Networking, Planning, Product, Solution and Tech sales. Vivek has been associated with telecom revolution in India right from early days, and has witnessed the changing landscape, innovation and user consumption from 2G to 5G, OTT, SaaS and others.
With extensive understanding of Indian regulatory framework (i.e., OSP, ISP, Audiotex, UL, ULVNO), enormous interaction/solutioning with diverse clients from ITES/BFSI, etc, and on different aspects like network, compliance, business models, Vivek has helped appreciate multi stakeholder view points, further helping him to be reliable guide for many organizations.
