The tab is running: why cloud costs are everyone's problem

About the round table

Cloud bills tell you what you owe. FinOps should tell you why, and what to do next.

This round table explores FinOps as an engineering discipline, where infrastructure telemetry, workload behavior, and cloud economics come together to drive decisions.

We’ll discuss hard questions practitioners actually face:

  • How do you move from cost visibility to cost accountability and decision-making?
  • How do you correlate spend with utilization, performance, and engineering trade-offs?
  • What signals, benchmarks, and heuristics help distinguish waste vs intentional scale?
  • How do you map infra consumption to business outcomes—throughput, users served, bytes transferred, revenue impact?
  • How do teams operationalize FinOps across engineering, platform, and finance?

Expect war stories on cost anomalies, unit economics, noisy workloads, capacity trade-offs, and the real constraints of running systems at scale.

This is not a discussion about “reducing cloud costs.” It is about treating spend as a first-class engineering signal, and making better decisions because of it.

📍 This is an in-person round table. There will be no live stream. A summary of key insights may be shared after the session.

Format

A moderator-led round table with a group of 20–25 participants, designed for candid peer exchange, practical lessons, and discussion to take the learnings back, and apply at your workplace.

This round table will be conversational in format, not a presentation. Participants are expected to bring their own context, questions, and experiences into the discussion.

Who should participate

If you influence infrastructure decisions and live with their cost implications, this is for you:

  • Platform / SRE / infrastructure engineers
  • Senior ICs and architects
  • FinOps and cloud optimization practitioners
  • Engineering leaders balancing performance, reliability and spend

If you’ve ever looked at a cloud bill and thought something is off, but I can’t prove where — this discussion is for you.
