Platforms for AI, and AI for platforms

13 & 14 November 2026
TERI Auditorium, Domlur, Bangalore · Online via livestream

Meet the engineers building and operating platforms, infrastructure and production systems. Compare approaches to reliability, security, performance and cost, and examine how AI is changing this work.

Expect production case studies, technical demonstrations and discussions about engineering decisions: what teams tried, what worked, what failed and what they would change.

Community editors review proposals and work with speakers to develop their sessions. This edition also marks the first anniversary of the Rootconf Platform Engineering meet-up series.

48 GPU hours, 10% of the data: Debugging an LLM training run
Alosh Denny · AI researcher*
A training job consumed 48 GPU hours while repeatedly processing just a tenth of its intended dataset. Alosh traces the debugging journey through shared-state failures, missing checkpoints and the checks he now runs before committing compute.

TraceQL internals: Building a query language for distributed traces
Suraj Nath · Grafana
How do you search distributed traces at scale without building an expensive index? Suraj explores how Grafana Tempo stores and queries trace data on object storage, and why traces needed their own query language. A look at columnar storage, query planning and the trade-offs between storage cost and query latency.

When the client disconnects but the agent keeps running
Aditya Singh · Glance
How do you resume an AI agent’s response after a client disconnects—even through a different gateway? Aditya shares Glance’s production architecture for separating agent execution from response delivery, using Redis Streams to replay missed events. A look at recovery contracts, duplicate handling and the limits of replay when an agent process dies.

Theme

Platforms for AI: Running inference, model serving and agent workloads, with the infrastructure, observability, security, governance and cost controls they require.

AI for platforms: Applying AI to incident response, debugging, deployments, security workflows and developer tooling.

Reliability, databases, distributed systems, infrastructure and day-to-day operations remain central to the programme.

If you build or run these systems, as a platform engineer, SRE, DevOps engineer, security engineer, MLOps engineer, data infrastructure practitioner or engineering leader, bring your questions and experience.

Testimonials

“Unlike the traditional ‘submit and wait’ approach, RootConf gives speakers an opportunity to demo their talk before a group of reviewers and receive genuine, constructive feedback on what to improve, add, or refine.”

“The audience was technically strong, curious, and genuinely eager to learn.”

Meet the community editors

Rootconf’s programme is shaped through community peer review. Editors and reviewers discuss proposals with speakers, review rehearsals and help refine sessions around evidence, trade-offs and practical lessons.

  • Bharadwaj Embar - Engineering Manager, Platform Engineering at Nutanix
  • Rolland Santimano - Principal Engineer at Rubrik
  • Talina Shrotiya - Senior Engineering Manager at Couchbase
  • Vivek Pemavat - Principal Engineer at Acceldata

Share your work - submissions close on 9 October

Have a production lesson, experiment, demo or unresolved engineering problem that other practitioners could learn from?
We welcome talks, demos, workshops and Birds of Feather discussions. Work in progress is welcome: tell us what you’re trying, what you’ve learned and what remains open.
Submit your proposal by 9 October 2026 →
