E-commerce traffic patterns with it’s huge spikes (>5x of usual) are brutal on any elastic cloud architecture. We will discuss Flipkart’s latest cloud infrastructure that can scale to a million virtual machines and handle multiple terabits/sec of network traffic.

Outline

We will discuss our key learnings from handling huge amount of spike traffic during those crazy flash sales (The Big Billion Day, Big App Shopping Days etc) and how it drove our design for this new cloud.
This talk will also focus on scaling the network to enable a very large number of machines and handle huge amount of traffic without using expensive hardware load-balancers and firewalls.

Vinay Y S is the Principal Architect for Flipkart’s cloud platform. In the past he has built distributed systems for storage, gaming, analytics & machinelearning, personal data management and infra platforms in public/private/hybrid cloud environments.
