Visualizing Relational Data using Graphs and Architectural Decisions .

Submitted Jan 9, 2014

To enlighten how we can use graphs, to visualize our data-models and of-course data in a more interactive fashion.

In addition, we’ll look at some infrastructural base stuff, mainly “eventing” that needs to be set, when we’re looking forward to write a single page web app.

Outline

In the words of Edward Tufte, “Graphical excellence consists of complex ideas communicated with clarity, precision, and efficiency”.

Information visualization involves representing data in a form that facilitates understanding. The form of representing relational data is the focus of this talk, and specifically how we can use several svg libraries to support the visual representation of graphs and other characteristics of structured data.

Appacitive which is a backend-as-a-service provider, uses a similar approach for representing data, which we’ll be eploring as an example for this talk.

In addition, we would be covering some base framework decisions that needs to be taken, while writing a single page web app. The one that we would be covering are

  • Eventing Framework
  • Script Loading and combinig
  • Routing
  • MVC Setup
