Simplifying Component Communication in Angular

Submitted Apr 24, 2018

Any Enterprise Angular application will have many components and these components need to communicate to each other. A component could be used in different ways and they need to communicate to other components. For example passing data from parent component to child component or emitting events from child component to parent component. There are various ways, components communicate to each other, which are as follows:

  1. @Input decorator
  2. @Output decorator and EventEmitter
  3. Temp Ref variable
  4. ViewChild and ContentChild
  5. Services

Each method of communication has its own purpose and having an understanding of when to use what is very crucial for Angular application development. Without having a good understanding of component communication, it is almost impossible for Angular developer to write an enterprise Angular app.

This live coding based talk will help in simplifying component communication in Angular. At the end of talk, audience will have fare understanding of component communication and scenarios in which it should be used. This talk is for every Angular developer.
