Shaping The Future: India’s First Women in AI Mixer

HasGeek, in collaboration with Shubhi Saxena, cofounder of Coval.ai, successfully hosted Women in AI, an exclusive women-only mixer on May 27th, 2023. The event brought together founders, data scientists, and venture capitalists in the fields of AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science, providing a unique platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.

Shubhi Saxena, who has successfully built NLP platforms in the past, said, “When I organized the Gen AI Hackathon (co-organized by HasGeek) earlier this year in April, we were worried by the lack of female representation. While we’re gradually bridging the STEM gap in the industry, that in newer technologies like AI & ML remains shockingly high.

The women-only mixer, organized by Shubhi and hosted by HasGeek, was the first of its kind in India. The immersive event featured engaging networking sessions, stimulating group discussions, and curated talks delivered by senior women leaders who are driving innovation in the AI domain.

The first speaker, Lavanya Tekumalla, facilitated a discussion on ‘Time Series Modeling for Demand Forecasting - From Sarimax, Random Forests, Transformers to Prompt Engineering’. The talk focussed on the strengths and weaknesses of various timeseries models and some real-world experiments within Sortly.

Shubha Shedthikere, Senior Data Scientist at Swiggy, presented an overview of how Swiggy uses cross domain recommendation systems to leverage the data from other(source) domain in order to improve the recommendations in the target domain. A masterclass in cross domain learning indeed!

The mixer not only provided a platform for networking and knowledge sharing but also introduced attendees to two valuable communities designed to support their growth and success in the AI industry: an inclusive general AI community and a special community exclusively for Women in AI.
