Introduction to LaTeX and friends

Submitted Dec 21, 2015

Learn the basics of LaTeX - how to create a LaTeX document and compile it to get a well laid-out pdf; What are environments and how to handle them; How to do basic debugging of LaTeX documents; etc.

Outline

The session will start with a description of what is LaTeX, including a brief history of the software. After this part, it would be best to do the sessions in a lab where the participants can get handson experience. I will be dealing basically with the software as installed in a GNU/Linux system.

Requirements

Computers with GNU/Linux and TeXLive installed, along with a text editor like gedit or kate, and a pdf viewer like evince or okular.

Speaker bio

I have been doing LaTeX workshops for more than 5 years and have taken such classes in several universities and colleges, including NITC.

  • Sorry. No videos of previous sessions.
