Outline

The story of how the GNU project started, how GNU/Linux came into being and how it helps to use Free Software rather than ono-Free software in education.

Postgraduate in Physics with MTech in Physical Engineering from IISc. PhD in Physics. Worked in the Centre for Earth Science Studies for close to 30 years, conducting research in Atmospheric Electricity and rainfall. Have been a Free Software user and evangelist for more than ten years. A member of the Director Board of the Free Software Foundation of India. Have published several articles in English and Malayalam on Free Software and related matters, including interviews with Richard Stallman, Eben Moglen and others.
