In a world driven by rapid technological advancements, the ability to innovate within constraints is more valuable than ever. The Jugaad mindset, deeply rooted in Indian ingenuity, represents a frugal, flexible, and out-of-the-box approach to problem-solving. From building cost-effective solutions in resource-limited environments to hacking together quick fixes that evolve into robust systems, Jugaad thinking has shaped technological innovation in unexpected ways.
This talk will explore how the Jugaad mindset applies to cybersecurity, open-source software, system administration, and hardware hacking. We’ll examine real-world examples—from makeshift IoT security patches to frugal data center optimizations—and discuss how this philosophy aligns with agile development, DevOps, and grassroots tech movements.
More importantly, we will address the fine line between smart improvisation and long-term technical debt. While Jugaad fosters creativity, it can also lead to security vulnerabilities and maintenance nightmares if not applied strategically. By the end of this session, attendees will gain insights into harnessing Jugaad effectively—turning constraints into opportunities without compromising security, scalability, or sustainability.
Developers, cybersecurity professionals, system architects, entrepreneurs, and anyone passionate about lean innovation and creative problem-solving in tech.
