    Hi everyone,

I’d like to share a new resource for The Fifth Elephant members with an interest in open source GenAI.

Decoding Llama3 is an explainer on Meta’s Llama 3 Large language open weights model by Simrat Hanspal who has been a longstanding member of our community.

You can read the 7-part guide here
    https://hasgeek.com/simrathanspal/the-llama3-guide/sub/decoding-llama3-part-1-intro-to-llama3-RCehJkfUH348ryim1x6PLN

To state the obvious, Llama3 is important in the current context for AI as it provides engineers and organisations with the following benefits...

    1. Leveraging open weights large langauge model for various use-cases where privacy matters and those that require on-premises setup and deployments.
    2. The weights are available for free, encouraging development and research across various fields and encourages local research for developers and interdiscplinary domain experts.
    3. Developers and teams can experiment with knowledge reasoning, planning and Natural langauge understanding and inference tasks on various datasets related to various natural language processing tasks.
    4. Assists in tackling the cold start data problem for a lot of companies and researchers who can use various parameter models to generate synthetic datasets given minimal real-world data examples as reference.
    5. Domain specific small models can be orchestrated by fine-tuning on top of these models and also leveraging different metric based evaluations.

To make the most of this explainer, I suggest that you to go through the table of content and go through each part. We have curated it in a way so that folks can assimilate the material in a sequenced chunking manner.

Once you go through these explainers, you will be able to dive deeper into detailed research papers and guides released by Meta and many others on the Llama series of models.

If you have any questions for Simrat, please add them to the comments here https://hasgeek.com/simrathanspal/the-llama3-guide/comments
