Abstract

To highlight how sensors available in commercial smartphones can be leveraged for applications in telematics and related areas, and give an interesting demo of a prototype developed for insurance industry

Outline

Commercial smartphones, (including mid-range devices) have several sensors such as GPS, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, etc. These can be effectively leveraged to detect and derive valuable information in various contexts. The presentation will describe the experience with using smart phone sensors for business purposes. The usage of this data will be exemplified with an insurance industry use case.

Am a Technology Consultant in the Research & Innovation group at iGATE, a technology evangelist with over 14 years of experience in the IT industry. My current area of focus is on exploring and evaluating new technologies and building solutions in Enterprise Mobility.
