Session type: Lecture
This session should give an better understanding of how routing/directions services work, what data do they work on, and what techniques could be employed to make routing better.
Outline
This session should cover how routing is typically done in map services.
A suggested flow
- Introduction to popular routing algorithms
- What kind of data is required to build a routing solution, say, given OSM map data
- What are various techniques employed to improve routing usefulness (e.g. landmark based routing, tuning variables)
- A quick summary of routing algos/libraries for OSM
