Understanding how OGC is used in MySQL and PostGIS is used in PostgreSQL to use MySQL or PostgreSQL as Map server.
Outline
MySQL implements Geo spatial extensions using opengis and PostgreSQL uses PostGIS. Both these extensions enhances traditional databases to perform geo spatial queries. Queries like existence of a Point in a polygon or distance between points/polygons can directly be executed in the DB.
This workshop will talk about these extensions (opengis and/or postgis) and demonstrate the type of database queries that can be run using them.
