Bengali Science Fiction -- Past To The Present

In this session we discuss, with Dip Ghosh and Debraj Moulick, the evolution of Bengali Science Fiction, with a focus on the work of Satyajit Ray. We will also talk about other prominent writers like Premendra Mitra, whose work makes Bengali SFF the vibrant space that it is, and also what future directions SFF in Bengali is likely to take.

Join in for a fun chat, and answers to questions like, “Was Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, actually based off a story by Satyajit Ray?”

About the speakers:
Dip Ghosh is the Founder and Editor of Bengali SF magazine Kalpabiswa, and Founder of Kalpabiswa Publications which publishes SF and fantasy books in Bengali.

Debraj Moulik has submitted his MPhil Thesis based on Postcolonial Indian Science Fiction Studies in Department of English, University of Mumbai. He is a bilingual poet, writer, reviewer and blogger at https://debrajdpaideia.wordpress.com/. His Science Fiction Short Story will be published in CovidKatha, esteemed publication of NCSTC.
