Privacy and access rights – impact on consumers

Submitted Jun 14, 2022

Under the Data Protection Bill, citizens have been granted new rights that pertain to their digital Identity and the digital ecosystem as a whole.

  1. Right to be forgotten
  2. Right to portability
  3. Right to Confirmation and Access (S17)

There is a discussion to be had on not only the history and precedence of these rights, but also the implications for the future of the internet. It is also worth comparing these rights with that of other countries and noting the effect that these rights will have on future technology.
