We’ve already had a lot of community activity over the last couple of months, including hackathons, meetups, roundtables and much more.

Here’s a quick roundup of some of the highlights so far.

Roundtable report: Evaluating the Generative AI ecosystem in India

Roundtable

Generative AI has sparked innovation across domains, offering the possibility of bridging the digital divide. However, every use case comes with its own set of unique risks, and there must be a balance between development and safety.

Last month, Generative AI start-up founders and developers got together to discuss specific areas where further research as well as policy developments are required. This report, collated by Hasgeek, outlines the points that were made and insights from the participants’ experiences about the impact of GenAI in different domains or applications areas.

The Open Source AI Hackathon

The hackathon kicked off early in the new year (on 3rd Jan) and has had strong participation from many teams. 36 Open Source AI projects are competing for the top spot. Projects were invited to illustrate the potential use of AI for themes like Indic languages, legal-tech, inclusivity and accessibility, creative expression, education and for India-specific applications.

Five winning projects will get cash prizes of Rs 1,00,000.

Over the last couple of months, curators, mentors and participants have organised hackdays, mentor connect sessions, paper discussions, demos, talks and meetups to help the participants collaborate and get support as they build their ideas. This will culminate in a showcase demo day on 12 April in Bangalore.
