The very first meet-up of the Rootconf SRE series is here. As organizations grow from startups to unicorns and enterprises, how does the functions of SRE, DevOps or Platform engineering evolve simultaneosly?

Trying to understand the blackbox that is the engineering team within any organization that has reached a certain scale, in terms of staff or revenue, might lead to more such questions:

  1. what are the hiring criteria for these varied functions?
  2. how exactly would one contribute as an engineer in the SRE, DevOps or Platform engineering team?
  3. how does each function relate to business/product goals and outcomes?
  4. when exactly did the org decide to split its engineering team into separate functions?
  5. any relevant failure stories for the org or any of its specific engineering functions

This month’s meet-up shall focus on Myntra’s story - how did its engineering org chart evolve across its 17 years journey from a startup to acquisition. The case study shall be presented by Myntra’s engineering team.

Format

  • One deep dive case study by the organization in focus,
  • followed by a Birds of a Feather (BOF) session where participants shall discuss their questions from the case study presented by the org, moderated by Rootconf editors.

Participation

This is an in-person meet-up. In-person participation is free. Live stream and recording of the meet-up is available only for Rootconf members.
