About the workshop 📚

During this hands-on workshop, participants will:

  1. Understand the Linux kernel release life cycle.
  2. Make a change to the codebase.
  3. Create a patch.
  4. Send the patch to the maintainers.
  5. Get feedback and make revisions (v2, v3, etc.).
  6. See how patch acceptance and merging happens.
  • The workshop is of 90 mins duration.
  • This is an in-person workshop.
  • Only 35 seats are open for workshop participation.
  • Recording of the workshop will be made available for Rootconf members.

Important prerequisites for participants attending the workshop 📝

  1. Familiarity with git basics will be useful.
  2. Laptop with Linux installation.

Overall, this workshop intends to grow potential contributions and contributors to the Linux kernel by guiding new contributors and helping them find starting points.
