From Sketch To Code: Designing a Component Kit

Submitted Oct 7, 2018

With clever organization and storybook on our side, managing shared components has never been easier. After working on multiple enterprise projects that use the same components it became a little overwhelming, but it does not have to. I will talk through how to create an effective workflow by showing examples of what worked and did not work for our team, from design QA to constant props. As well as how we tackled components, making sure documentation that stays up to date with API changes, and tools we used. Lastly, I go over to effective communicate with multiple parts of the organization to make a component kit successful.

Outline

Why are components important
What does a component consist of when trying to make one
Why is a component kit necessary
How Designers and Storybook JS contributes to making a successful kit
We are going to take everything we learned and put it all together
