COEP FOSSMeet’19 is College of Engineering, Pune’s own Free and Open Source Software event. It is jointly organised by Computer and IT department, COEP, COEP’s Free Software Users Group (COFSUG) and COEP’s - Information and Cyber Security Research Group (COEP - ICSRG).

With a vision to promote the culture of openness, innovation, and freedom, the meet intends to bring together FOSS developers, academicians, researchers, students and all those who love the FOSS movement and provide an opportunity to all technophiles out there to participate in the FOSS development and adoption process through hands-on sessions, discussions and lectures.

WebAssembly is a brand new web technology with massive potential. It will have a significant impact on how web applications are developed in the future.

The session will cover What web assembly is, What it means for Javascript and a demo with Rust and Web Assembly


What is Web Assembly?

Why do we need it and What it means for Javascript?

Demo Using Rust/C Program:

  • Write: a basic Rust or C Program
  • Compile: to .wasm file
  • Include: .wasm file into a project
  • Instantiate: js that will compile the .wasm binary and instantiate it into something that js can play with.

Diwanshi is an Application Developer at RedHat and a Mozilla Tech Speaker. You can talk to her about modern open web technologies, Privacy and Security over the web. She also loves to talk about different cultures and cuisines and give it a try in her free time.
