Confessions of an FOSS Entrepreneur

Submitted Feb 14, 2019

I started Josh Software, a core-technology services company 11 years ago. Though it was one of the best decisions of my life, it has had it’s huge ups & downs. Our entire 11 years have been built on the foundation of Free and Open Source Sofware and this talk is about how we have stood on the shoulders of the open-source community and how you too can “make it happen”.

For all those students, who wish to be a entrepreneurs, here is a talk that’s all about the mistakes (confessions) that you can learn from and start up right, contribute back to the community and build the eco-system for future entrepreneurs!

By the end of the talk, I hope to leave you inspired by this story!

Outline

What participants may learn:

  • When to startup?
  • How to startup? What do you need?
  • Focus on Product or Service?
  • Choosing customers wisely
  • Financial pitfalls
  • Grooming the future leaders
  • Contributing back to Open-source
  • Building the eco-system
  • ... and much more!

I have given this talk earlier and have received an awesome response .. this is the motivation for future entrepreneurs!
