What is the doctrine of due process in criminal law?
Why is it important?
With the arbitrary application of the draconian criminal law provisions and the subsequent whittling down of due process, what happens to the efficiency of the criminal justice system and criminal litigation in India?
Speakers Rebecca John and Kunal Ambasta will engage with the concept of due process and its position and value in the criminal justice system. They will examine the whittling down of due process and other procedural safeguards inherent in criminal law over the past few years, resulting in the creation of a dangerous socio-political climate and a troubling ecosystem within the judiciary, its impact on the criminal justice system and what this means for criminal litigation in the country.
The event is open to all. Registered participants will be sent the link for joining the session three hours prior to the event.
