FUTURES // CRAFT-ACTIVISM

Envisioning future identities of crafts with activists' intent

Futures // Craft-Activism

Can crafts be a tool for activist intentions?
Can futures of crafts in india be derived as expressions of dissent ?

Crafts and activism have had an intertwined relationship. From Gandhi’s charkha to the modern day “yarnbomber”, crafts have helped activism materialise in a spectrum of artefacts and cultures. We invite you to collectively imagine futures of craft helping in emergence of activism - individual, communal, online, offline, post truth e.t.c.

About Idée Fixe
Idée Fixe is a critical exercise to envision alternative and provocative future(s) of craft cultures in India, as a response to the stagnated identities of craft practices and ecosystems.
Through a series of interactive workshops in the next three months, we will map evidences of radically reimagined future(s) of craft cultures. Narratives and artefacts built during these workshops will be published under the creative commons to instigate fringe craft enquiries.

Idée Fixe is supported by the
Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.
