Testimonials for Privacy Mode
Importance of a community for data privacy for India's technology ecosystem
Srujana Merugu
At the heart of our digital world is data, which makes data rights, privacy, and valuation foundational for the smooth functioning of our society. The current status quo with respect to data regulation is neither satisfactory nor equitable and permits a wide range of data abuse. Given the far-reaching implications of data regulatory policy such as the Personal Data Protection Bill, and Non-Personal Data framework, there is a critical need to bring together expertise and perspectives from a broad range of stakeholders - lawyers, economists, technologists, data scientists, ethicists, business leaders, and regulatory authorities to formulate robust policy frameworks, process, technologies and drive adoption.
Privacy Mode is an excellent timely effort in this direction and a great forum for folks to learn and share about various aspects of the data regulation landscape, innovative tools and technologies, case studies, and best practices. Personally speaking, participating in the NPD week, responding to RFCs, and listening to policy discussions helped me get familiar with some of the upcoming policy developments, which also shaped some of the data classification and handling choices on some of my projects. In addition to conferences and discussion forums, Privacy Mode also offers a fantastic one-stop repository on all things related to data policy with links to original reports, primers, nicely curated best practice guides, and video talks. Looking forward to more resources and talks on health data privacy, digital identifiers, and data protection bills.
