This is a proposal requesting for someone to speak on this topic. If you’d like to speak, leave a comment.
Outline
In the rapidly shifting landscape of morals, ethics and appropriate behaviour, the objectification and media-manufactured predisposition towards a womans body pose a daunting challenge to rapid urbanisation and a new era of empowered, educated and free-thinking women.
How long will women be unresponsive to the lecherous prolonged gaze of a stranger, or worse still a colleague, boss, or acquaintance? Can wearable tech be used to subtlety alter perceptions and ultimately influence and change behaviour?
These are questions we wish to investigate and showcase at Maker Faire.
The experiment: Booby Trapped a wearable designed to question, and react to the nature and duration of The Gaze. We aim to make a wearable that will react, playing randomly selected clips from Bollywood (dialogues) in response to the gaze of the person interacting with the user. If the gaze of people hovers on specific areas (read bust) for too long, the videos will play at random. The response, we are yet to discover. The trap however will be set.
