The Music track of The Goa Project 2016

Music and the creation of pleasant sound is something that is an art by itself. Be it instruments, or the human voice the topic deserves a track all to itself - and is also a space that is still quite nascent in a country like India.

We are looking for topics around ... songwriting, managing and promoting your own band, musical instruments (there are some pretty cool things happening with tech there), discussions around music genre, sound engineering, discussions for and with audiophiles - even a bit around sound mixing or synthesizing and sound production (though a bit of the last one will come in sound engineering).

We’d also imagine you’ll have topics and conversations to share around singing lessons (maybe your experience with it - and if you figured out if you have the winning voice), discussions around music education, the impact of music on the soul and person, or even if you want to start a debate on different genres or styles of music.

If you have some insights around any of these, are would consider yourself an expert - or want to moderate a session (and invite some experts) please do.

Finding your own unique signature sound being a music composer/producer.

Technical level: Intermediate

The musicians attending this talk would get to learn about how they can find their own sound that will eventually define their music and credentials. This would make them understand how their sound can become their identity and listeners can recognise them listening to their music. A.R. Rahman is the perfect example.

Outline

For aspirant music composers(myself included) this is a very important thing to take care of these days because your sound is what makes you different from others. Finding a fresh sound separates a new composer’s stuff from the usual music people listen to. Especially in Indian music scene with cutthroat competition, one needs to update himself with latest techniques and sound libraries every 4-6 months. There are prime examples like Amit Trivedi, Sachin Jigar who have changed the game with music production and technology.

Speaker bio

I’m a music composer/producer myself based in Chennai currently. Studying at AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, i’ve been here for 3 years now and been into music for a good 18 years when i started learning at the age of 6. I’ve learnt hindustani music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad as well as western classical from Trinity college of music, London. Coming here to chennai my motive was to get into the technical side of music with stuff like sound engineering and music production and now i’m a certified music producer having completed my diploma in music technology. Currently i have been working on a few projects for past one year here including ad jingles and a Tamil feature film.
