The Entrepreneurship related track of The Goa Project 2016

This year (2016) The Goa Project features a separate track on Entrepreneurship.

Any form of Entrepreneurship is not easy. But there are specific sectors that are more challenging than the others. If you are trying to build a sustainable organization in a difficult and / or unglamorous market, this is a great opportunity to show case it to the world. Please come and share your success stories, failures, learnings and experiences.

Some examples (but not limited to) are:

  1.   Creative entrepreneurs  in design / performing arts / social impact space

  2.   Consumer facing business that is self-sustainable and profitable

  3.   Sectors like infrastructure, waste management, renewable energy, engineering, agri-food..

  4.   The tragedy of the commons

  5.   Useful technologies that require behavioural change / have poor adoption curves..

  6.   Developing markets outside India  

  7.   Difficult to monetize sectors such as music or entertainment

  8.   Any thing else and more..

The emphasis is not really on the sector or even the problem-opportunity-solution. Tell us how you are cracking the challenges of adoption, sustainability and scalability. Even if it is Work in Progress, there is a lot we can all learn from you.

Engineering and Technology as a solution to solving waste management issues

Technical level: Beginner

To show that Economically viable solutions can be developed to manage waste.
These solutions can

  • Provide employment,
  • Reduce waste going into landfills and
  • Enable our planet recover from the domestic waste mess that we have created.

Outline

Would be an interactive presentation which would consist of

  1. starting with the mess that we have made of waste management in our cities and towns
  2. what is the citizens’ responsibility in managing this
  3. how and why current technologies and solutions have failed to provide the relief that we are expecting
  4. what we are proposing that is different and why it has a better chance of success
  5. social and environmental impact of these solutions

Speaker bio

Mr. Ramanan Natarajan – Founder and CEO of Shudh-Labh Solutions Pvt Ltd, Bangalore
Ramanan has been working in the IT industry for over 25 years helping manage projects and contributing to their technical improvement. Over the last few years, his focus has been on project management and process improvement. He has also been mentoring a couple of start-ups to move onto a growth path and be able to plan out their strategic direction - define their roadmap for achieving their strategic goals.

Ramanan has a passion for a clean environment and thought that it would be better to direct his anger at seeing a dirty city into cleaning it. Hence, this initiative to recover the environment. In the last couple of years he has been focusing his effort into making Shudh-Labh a successful and well-known company in Bangalore and other cities in India.
