Releasing an independently made feature film-how tough is it?

How does one approach theatrical release for an indie film & what are the other avenues of reaching out to the audience?


Hundreds of films get made in India every year,every week we see multiple releases & yet a lot of films which get made never see a theatrical release.So how difficult is it to have your film released?What are the ways of going about it?How else could a filmmaker reach out to his/her target audience?

Sethumadhavan is an independent distribution and marketing consultant for films and has already helped in the release of a few indie films including “The Path of Zarathustra”.Sethu is also a film critic and journalist,writing for Bangalore Mirror (part of TOI)and is the Founder and Chief Editor of the movie portal-Mad About Moviez ( has also been consulting with a reputed film studio based in Mumbai.
