DESCRIPTION:# Pandas for Data Analysis\nPandas is one of the most importan
t libraries in the Python ecosystem—especially for working with data. Bu
t to many beginners\, it feels overwhelming. This workshop is designed to
break that barrier.\n\nIn this fully hands-on workshop\, you'll learn how
to load\, explore\, clean\, and analyze data using Pandas. We'll work insi
de Jupyter notebooks and use real-world datasets so you can apply everythi
ng you learn in practical ways. Whether you're a beginner or someone who's
played with Excel\, this session will help you confidently transition to
using Python for data work.\n\nWe’ll start with the absolute basics: wha
t a DataFrame is\, how to read CSVs\, and how to manipulate columns and ro
ws. Then we’ll move on to filtering\, sorting\, grouping\, and visualizi
ng data. You’ll leave with enough knowledge to start doing real analysis
on your own data—and the confidence to explore further using ChatGPT as
your assistant.\n\n## Agenda: Pandas for Data Analytics (6 hours)\n- **In
troduction & Setup** \n What is Pandas? Why is it useful? \n Setting u
p Jupyter with `uv`\, installing Pandas\, and creating your first notebook
.\n\n- **Understanding DataFrames** \n Loading CSVs into Pandas. \n Vi
 ewing and inspecting data: `.head()`\, `.info()`\, `.describe()`  \n  Inde
xes and what makes Pandas different from lists or dicts.\n\n- **Basic Data
Operations** \n Selecting rows and columns \n Filtering data with con
 ditions \n Sorting\, renaming\, and working with missing values\n\n- **S
hort Break**\n\n- **GroupBy and Aggregations** \n How to group data\, co
mpute aggregates\, and summarize results.\n\n- **Exploratory Data Analysis
** \n Using built-in plotting features \n Combining Pandas with Matplo
tlib for quick visualizations\n\n- **Hands-On: Small Analysis Project** \
 n We’ll work through a dataset together (e.g. movies\, books\, or sales
  data) \n You’ll perform a mini-analysis\, create plots\, and share fi
ndings\n\n- **Lunch Break**\n\n- **ChatGPT for Learning Pandas** \n Lear
n how to ask questions when you get stuck \n Using ChatGPT to get explan
ations\, fix errors\, and write Pandas code\n\n- **Where to Go From Here**
\n Additional libraries (Seaborn\, Polars\, DuckDB) \n How to keep pr
 acticing and exploring\n\n### Q&A + Wrap Up (30 minutes)\n\n## Prerequisit
es\n- Familiarity with Python basics \n- Python installed and `uv` set up
([instructions here](https://docs.astral.sh/uv)) \n- Laptop running Linu
x or macOS (Windows supported with JupyterLab in browser) \n- You must ha
ve permission to install software\n- A *personal* [Github](https://github.
com) account\n - Before the workshop\, send me your ID so I can add you t
 o [the\n repo](https://github.com/stonecharioteer-workshops/pandas-for-da
ta-analysis)\n for access. This is *necessary* because we will be using [
gitter](https://gitter.im)\n for the group chat during the workshop\, and
for sharing links.\n - *Some* familiarity to `git` is useful\, but not r
 equired. If you're\n interested [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG
Oj5yH7evk) is a good\n intro to both Git and Github\n\n## Target Audience
\n- Beginners who want to explore data with Python \n- Analysts and Excel
users looking to move to code \n- Students or researchers working with d
atasets \n- Anyone curious about data science and wants to build a founda
 tion\n\n## Slides\nWIP\n\n## Exercises\nWIP\n\n## About the Trainer\nVinay
Keerthi is a self-taught developer who has spent the past decade building
tools and systems across the software stack—from internal developer too
ls to large-scale data systems. He has worked at companies like Flipkart\,
Visa\, and ChainSafe and has taught programming to developers\, analysts\
, and tech-curious folks alike. \n\nA firm believer in empowering beginne
rs\, Vinay uses ChatGPT and other modern tools to make learning programmin
g more accessible and less intimidating.\n\n## Contact details\nFor inquir
