My talk will include the basics of gossip protocol along with in-depth knowledge of it’s working mechanism. This talk will give an overview of the entire protocol including very minute details along with the mathematics involved. I will also use a code snippet to explain the practical implemenation of the protocol.

Speaker bio

The speaker has worked on blockchain technologies as a research intern along with experience in conducting security reviews for ethereum based smart contracts. During her college, she has implemented a tool for finding vulnerabilities in ethereum based smart contracts. Currently, she is independently researching on applied cryptography and mathematics involved in it alongside working with the WAF Research team at Qualys as a Web Application Security Analyst. She is also the Pune Chapter Lead for the Infosecgirls community and has also presented at Owasp Seasides 2019, Webinars and Null Chapter Meets.

      Can I make changes to the slides after submitting as well? I am still working on the code snippet part where I might make some small changes.

        Yes, slides are always a work in progress. But for our purposes, we need slides to understand flow of the content, etc. Your proposal is under evaluation. You will hear back from us by next week.

    Hello Shrutirupa,

    I have moved your proposal to Rootconf Pune.

    Few things to think about for the proposal:

    1. Is this a tutorial on Gossip? If yes, what is the value addition of this tutorial over material that can be found online?
    2. If this is a talk proposal, you have to explain what is the problem that Gossip solves? Why is Gossip better than similar available options? Show a comparison of tools/protocols similar to Gossip so that the audience is aware of alternatives.
    3. Make your point about Gossip with use cases, and experiences. How does Gossip work? Why does Gossip stand out? Therefore, why should the audience consider it?

    This is not a new research which I am proposing, this is an ongoing research by various researchers out there. I just intend to shed some light on this little known topic and I am sure there will be better materials online, my intention is to bring it forward to the audience via this talk.
    The problem that Gossip protocol solves has been explained under why section and also a different slide has been added for the same.
    I have not made any comparison as there is less number of alternatives to the protocol, so comparison might not fulfill my idea of explaining why I focused on the protocol.
    I will be explaining about real world examples that uses gossip protocol in. Use cases and experiences will be shown in the demo section.
    Use cases such as use of gossip by Cassandra database which is used by Facebook will be explained. I will be explaining what it is as its one of the very minor things which the audience might not be aware of.
    Also my slide might not look like not having too much content but I think I just need some key points which I have mentioned in the slides for me to make audience understand the topic.
