DESCRIPTION:### Design (1–2 hours)\nIn the first part of the workshop\,
we will design a simple progressive web app. We will start by defining the
functionality and then jump into Sketch to learn the fundamental principl
es\, techniques and best practices of things like colour\, typography\, la
yout\, information hierarchy\, using symbols and making designs responsive
.\n\n### Handover (30 minutes)\nIn the handover stage\, we will export out
designs to Zeplin to generate specifications and style guides that are ea
sy to understand\, change and maintain.\n\n### Implementation (2–3 hours
)\nWe will build upon the pre-shared boilerplate code with the participant
s and code the front-end part of the application. We will address each des
ign aspect introduced earlier and translate it into code to match the desi
gn to the highest fidelity. At the end\, we will have a responsive web-app
written in HTML\, CSS (Sass) and JavaScript that exactly matches the desi
 gn intent. \n\n### Iteration (30 minutes)\nIn the real world\, a digital p
roduct is never done. In the final stage of this workshop\, we will make d
esign changes in our app\, without breaking the existing code.\n\n### Spea
ker bio\n\n### Wolfram\nWolfram is a musician and designer from Germany. I
f he is not pushing around pixels he cycles\, works with low value garbage
recycling and teaches music. He studied product design at the Bauhaus uni
versity but has grown fond of digital design since he has become a part of
uncommon about three years ago. He worked on apps for clients like Flipka
 rt\, OLX\, GoJek and TCS.\n\n### Akshay\nAkshay is a product designer at U
ncommon. He studied at Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design\, Denmar
k and National Institute of Design\, India. He has worked on projects for
clients like IKEA\, Barclays and the Copenhagen Municipality and his work
has been featured on Fast Company\, Wired and The Creators Project.\n\n###
Tanushree\nTanushree is a front-end developer at Uncommon. Previously she
worked with Microsoft and Cognitive Match\, and more recently with client
s such as Shoonya Space and Black Baza Coffee. She studied Information Sys
tems at UC Berkeley. She is a trained expressive arts therapist and runs s
paces with an aim towards better emotional well-being and free expression
 using different arts.\n

lled Product Design and User Experience Design.\n\nI have been dabbling wi
th design systems for over 2 years now. But I only realized their potentia
l once it started getting mentioned in design conversations recently. I ha
ve designed couple of products where the systems have been implemented and
I want to share my learnings from those experiences.\n

DESCRIPTION:1) Old design stack: Sketch\, Zeplin\, Dropbox\, Invision\, Ma
rvel\n2) New design stack: Figma\n3) Goals with the design system: Real-ti
 me\, Collaborative\, Communication\n4) Real-time: Figma is multiplayer\, r
eal-time. Designers and developers can keep track of real time changes to
files and literally watch pixels as they move \n5) Collaborative: Multiple
designers working on a file at the same time\, developers seeing in-progr
ess work rather than just final \n6) Communication: Removing bottlenecks.
No more conversations like "is it ready? / is it on zeplin? / which is the
final design? / give me the dropbox link to this / the zeplin version see
ms different from the sketch version etc"\n7) Comparison: Sketch vs Figma.
How there's a massive migration from Sketch to Figma about to happen in t
he same way as Photoshop to Sketch happened\n8) Talking about our componen
 t structure and how it's used\n\n### Speaker bio\n\nI currently lead the d
