Commitment to Open Source

If you are describing a codebase for developers to work with, we’d like it to be available under a permissive open source license. If your software is commercially licensed or available under a combination of commercial and restrictive open source licenses (such as the various forms of the GPL), please consider picking up a sponsorship. We recognize that there are valid reasons for commercial licensing, but ask that you support us in return for giving you an audience. Your session will be marked on the schedule as a sponsored session.

Mean.io - From boilerplate to framework with 'package'ination

Submitted Jul 31, 2015

With javascript being everywhere, the integration of javascript at server, db, client level was bound to happen. It is imperative to start out with the right boilerplate/framework, and I want to talk about why Mean.io might be the right choice for you, with its contstantly evolving ecosystem, and a healthy package repository.

Outline

During the session, I will be talking about how the different components come together in the mean.io ecosystem, how authorization, permission system are baked in, and allow you to build things that are native to your app and not reinventing the wheel. Would specially focus on how packages give mean.io the edge over other frameworks.
We could quickly try and build a package, and contribute to mean.io. Will quickly demo of things that are built on mean.io and also briefly touch upon why mean.io may not be the right framework for you.

Speaker bio

I am a core contributor in mean.io, and have pioneered the first packages that went into the mean.io ecosystem. I am an open source maniac, and would love to talk about my learnings from my intro into the world of mean.io as I’ve been heavily involved into the future and building of mean.io.
