Tech, Web, Mountains & Community. Moar Please!

I’m Prateek Rungta, co-founder of Miranj — a web design studio in New Delhi. I’m so happy that Hasgeek has finished 10 years, can’t believe it’s been that long! The first time I came across them was in 2010 when they were running the DocType HTML5 series. It’s quite fitting that we crossed paths in an event about HTML5 because thanks to Hasgeek, we went on to build quite a few exciting websites for their host of events like The Fifth Elephant, Droidcon & JSFoo, but our favourite was Meta Refresh because it was about web design and we’re slightly biased there.

Along with giving us the opportunity to make a lot of websites Hasgeek also gave me an opportunity to get on stage and talk about some of the things that we do. I’m always thankful to them for that. I’ve gone on to speak a few times since then but the first time I got on stage is always going to be special. I think what they’re best at, though, is bringing people together and the community together. There are so many people I’ve met at Hasgeek and Hasgeek events who we’ve gone on to work with, collaborate with, some of whom have become friends for life, some of whose weddings I’ve attended…

Kiran & Zainab have always been people who I drop in to say hello to when I’m in Bangalore. I’ve also hosted them here in Delhi. Was always envious whenever Hasgeek would pack up and make their way to the mountains in the summer & hibernate there — damn, that’s the company I want to be.

I’m so glad that they’re here and doing this valuable work of bringing the tech community together. I wish them all the very best for the next ten years. May you folks keep doing more of what you do best.
